Essential Duties and Responsibilities
The District Sales Manager is responsible for driving sales and supporting Gates’ distribution partners across Northern England, Scotland, and North & South Ireland. This includes achieving revenue targets, implementing strategic initiatives, and building strong, lasting relationships with key partners, distributors, factors, and garages.
Representing Gates professionally, commercially, and technically, you will support customers in day-to-day operations, events, promotions, trainings, technical and warranty issues, ensuring the Gates brand is well-positioned, well-distributed, and widely adopted across the region.
Key responsibilities:
- Achieve set revenue targets for the assigned region.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with distributors, factors, and garages.
- Represent Gates professionally at all levels – commercial, technical, and operational.
- Support customer activities including events, promotions, trainings, and warranty cases.
- Plan and execute commercial initiatives to drive revenue growth, including stock profiling, shows, and promotional campaigns.
- Provide hands-on technical support at WD, factor, and garage level.
- Familiarise customers with Gates product lines, policies, and corporate updates.
- Monitor and report on market trends, requirements, and competitor actions.
- Translate EMEA-level corporate goals into local, actionable sales strategies.

Supervisory Responsibilities
This role has no direct reports but requires influencing and supporting distributor staff, factors, and garages to drive Gates’ sales and brand presence.
Requirements and Preferred Skills
- 5-7 years of experience
- 3 years of commercial and / or technical experience in an Automotive environment.
- Strong commercial and technical acumen with the ability to understand customer needs and deliver effective solutions.
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, and diplomacy skills; able to engage confidently at all levels (customers, distributors, internal teams).
- Highly self-motivated and organised, with strong planning and time-management abilities.
- Analytical, methodical, and solutions-focused with the ability to identify opportunities and resolve issues quickly.
- Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to adapt to changing market conditions and business priorities.
