Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain safety and environmental programs, policies, and procedures, to manage all HSE compliance and risks applicable to the facility.
  • Promote awareness in the organization, as well as the company's security policy and objectives.
  • Follow up on internal and external audit processes and government inspections.
  • Provide strategic leadership and oversight to ensure ongoing compliance, including all training and record-keeping activities in accordance with applicable local, state, and federal rules and regulations.
  • Establish, implement, and sustain ISO 14001, ISO 45000, and Gates HSE Management System to assess and control HSE risk.
  • Conduct audits and inspections to identify system-level weaknesses and recommend solutions for corrective actions.
  • Main point of contact for third-party management systems audits with responsibility for responding to audit findings
  • Establish and maintain a contractor HSE program to manage HSE risks associated with contractor activities on site.
  • Develop Emergency Response plans, ensuring drills are conducted and corrective actions are identified and implemented.
  • Create and manage budgets for HSE activities.
  • Drive efforts to reduce the environmental impact of manufacturing processes including hazardous and solid waste minimization and reduced water and energy consumption.
  • Manage all requirements related to chemical management including chemical approvals, GHS complaint labeling, employee training, and proper disposition.
  • Responsible for designing and monitoring training programs that comply with Gates, regulatory, governmental, and other applicable requirements.
  • Listen to and follow up on ideas for improvement or comments regarding safety, health, and the environment from workers and third parties.
  • Select and lead the appropriate personnel to support the design, implementation, management, and evaluation process of the HSE System.

Supervisory Responsibilities

  • Leadership experience, developing and driving initiatives.
  • Experience preparing and delivering HSE training.
  • In charge of at least three people who will report directly to you.

Requirements and Preferred Skills

  • 8 -10 years of health, safety, and environment experience required, manufacturing industry preferred.
  • Fluent English Language
  • Environmental, chemical, industrial engineering or career related to the position
  • Business, or closely related field strongly preferred.
  • Familiarity with ISO Management Systems (14001, 45001)
  • Working knowledge of safety codes, EPA regulations, and other regulatory agencies
  • Control of Hazardous Energy
  • Lockout/Tagout (LOTO)
  • Electrical Safety
  • Machinery and Machine Guarding
  • Powered Industrial Vehicles (PIV)
