Position Summary
The position is responsible for measuring the quality of raw materials upon receipt, ensuring that only those that meet standards and specifications are processed for use. Communicate any issues with their products to suppliers in a timely manner through Gates channels and help improve their management systems. Ensure finished product compliance with established standards and specifications.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Ensure customer requirements for the final product are met.
- Ensure the quality of raw materials and report any deviations.
- Manage the maintenance, calibration and certification of the laboratory's measurement, testing and control instruments and equipment.
- Support the development of Gates supplier quality through completing supplier assessments, nonconformance corrections, incoming inspection development, and/or supplier development project execution.
- Aline with quality management system audit process & Layered Process Audit (LPA) program.
- Applies broad knowledge of principles and practices in a specific practice area.
- Works on multiple projects of moderate size or portions of major projects.
- Designs a complete project, system, component, or process.
- Prepares complete project documents.
- Designs and conducts experiments, and analyzes and interprets data.
- Independently evaluates, selects, and adapts standard techniques, procedures, and criteria.
- Formulates and solves problems.
- Impacts a range of customer, operational, project or service activities within own team and other related teams; works within broad guidelines and policies
- Explains complex, difficult and/or sensitive information; works to build consensus

Requirements and Preferred Skills
- Must have a minimum of 2+ years in lab quality roles.
- Bachelor of Science (BS) undergraduate college degree or equivalent in a technical discipline (E.g., Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Physics, etc.).
- Working knowledge of automotive industry core tools (AIAG - APQP, PPAP, SPC, MSA, etc.) and quality assurance problem solving tools (E.g., 5-Why, Cause & Effect Diagrams, 8D, etc.) is required.
- Experience performing physical and chemical testing on rubber and polymer.
