Essential Duties and Responsibilities
As an innovation leader, we look for ambitious, forward-thinking, open-minded, and well-rounded individuals to join our global team. We are seeking a Human Resources Manager for a Manufacturing plant (195 HC), Distribution Center (59 HC) & Commercial offices (23 HC for Sales), based in our Brantford, Ontario facility. Reporting to the Fluid Power North America (US-CAN-MEX) HR Director, the Human Resources Manager will be responsible for the Gates Brantford Canada business.
- Work with the Plant Manager to develop strategies that support their operations
- Work closely with the HR Centers of Excellence to ensure consistency and standardization is used in the implementation of these strategies
- Work through the local HR team to implement HR activities that are facility-specific and/or corporate-driven
- Responsible for directly managing local HR resources and will interact closely with other Gates HR Managers to drive best practices and share knowledge
Key responsibilities:
- Development of HR Strategies - work with Plant Manager to identify facility direction, establish HR objectives in line with facility objectives, and develop HR strategies around workforce planning
- Implementation of HR Strategies - implement HR strategies to include employment processing, compensation, health and welfare benefits, training and development, records management, employee relations and retention, AA/EEO compliance, and labor relations.
- Management and Development - manage activities at multiple facilities to include recruiting, training, coaching, counseling staff, performance reviews, maintaining compensation, designing systems, resolving problems, and implementing change. Support management and employees by providing HR advice, counsel, gathering and analyzing information, and directing them to the appropriate resources to resolve issues. Clarify issues and priorities, communicate and coordinate job requirements, and evaluate optional courses of action and direction.
Supervisory Responsibilities
- Has formal supervisory responsibilities; sets priorities for and coaches associates to meet deadlines
- Has performance management and people development responsibility for associates under their care
Requirements and Preferred Skills
- Minimum 5-7 years of progressive HR experience with experience leading multiple HR functions (recruiting, employee relations, compensation, talent management, training, employee development, etc.)
- Experience in a Manufacturing and Commercial environment preferred
- Bachelor's Degree required
- Experience in partnering with business leaders on developing and driving initiatives
- High-level interpersonal and leadership skills; must be able to influence and coach across multiple levels within the company and locations
- Excellent decision-making and critical thinking skills
- Change management leadership capability
- Extensive knowledge of legal requirements applicable to HR (Employment, Employee rights, Employer obligations and rights, hires, terminations, Work Share Government Program)
- Knowledge of HR Requirements from ISO 9001 preferred
