Essential Duties and Responsibilities
The Automation Engineering Manager develops, plans, and implements the engineering team to support the development of factory-level automation and to make improvements to the automated processes. This position is expected to provide an approach to automation to enable effective and efficient manufacturing processes and equipment. As development programs are released, rapid transfer and support of equipment, processes, and procedures is expected to all the applicable worldwide factories. As needed this position serves as an individual contributor and as a project manager and technical resource to other employees across the organization. The individual will be expected to deliver results through the organization by driving solutions and improvements, by containing and fixing problems and by reviewing the current state of the manufacturing operations for opportunities and threats. Strategic planning in anticipation of future Operations directions is expected.
- Develops the automation engineering team and regularly reviews the progress of the team against commitments. Regularly reports on the status and progress of the team and projects.
- Develops and implements automation methods and controls to provide significant improvement to Operations through reductions of manual processes and functions.
- Provides decision making leadership to solve complex problems involving extensive research, analysis and evaluation of multiple variables
- Contributes ideas and analysis of potential programs to ensure added value.

Supervisory Responsibilities
- 3+ direct reports
- Manages a generally homogeneous team; adapts plans and sets priorities to meet service and/or operational challenges
- Has performance management and people development responsibility for managers or associates
- Provides subject matter guidance to associates, colleagues and/or customers
Requirements and Preferred Skills
- BS Degree or Higher; preferable in an applicable engineering discipline, such as Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Robotics Engineering, etc.
- Minimum of 2 years of specific experience in engineering resource management and direction with progressive responsibility
- Ability to provide concurrent oversight to multiple resources and projects
- Strong experience in equipment specification, design, and integration for new and existing automated processes; experience with industrial control systems and a basic understanding of machine control concepts strong knowledge of electrical, pneumatic, mechanical and hydraulic systems.
- Creative approaches and problem-solving concepts.
- Understanding of the requirements of manufacturing processes and the ability to collapse requirements into electromechanical systems.
