Essential Duties and Responsibilities

The primary responsibility is to develop and optimize manufacturing processes. This includes:

  • Designing and improving manufacturing systems and processes to increase productivity and reduce waste.
  • Establish the process standards precisely that shall control the process to produce desired results.
  • Select and design appropriate equipment, systems, and machinery for optimal production
  • Implementing process control techniques and equipment which ensure consistent product quality. Process FMEA, Control Plan, WI /SOP- Establish clear linkage of the process controls & link it do periodical audit check lists.
  • Layout- Apply scientific tool to design & relay-out existing lines to comply with lean concepts.
  • Design, Select & Maintain records for equipment, tools, jigs & fixtures for in house process.
  • Developing innovative solutions to complex engineering issues.
  • Ensure product and process quality by designing and implementing testing methods and quality control measures.
  • Collaborate with production teams, quality assurance, management, and other stakeholders to integrate improvements and new technologies.
  • Identify Opportunities to improve Material Utilization Index by optimizing material usage & also improving yield.
  • Process Validation & improvements at defined frequency & whenever changes are required to improve process.
  • Identify opportunities to reduce S&D% significantly by correcting or establishing the right process standards
  • Training and supervising staff in new development processes and technology.

 

Apart from above strategic responsibilities, Manufacturing Process Engineers undertake several daily tasks, including:

  • Collaborating with design engineers and other team members to set up production methods that are cost-effective and efficient.
  • Conducting tests and evaluations on processes, making necessary adjustments to processes and equipment to meet quality standards.
  • Maintain proper documentation on Process validation & DOE results for all audits not limited to QMS, IATF.
  • Documenting procedures and process changes to maintain a high level of operational safety and compliance with industry standards.
  • Maintaining reliable and safe manufacturing systems while improving production rates, efficiencies, yields, costs, and changeovers.
  • Monitoring and analyzing metrics while developing new continuous improvement opportunities.
  • Utilizing process simulation software to test and find the most appropriate production strategies.
  • Periodical Reporting to management on Department performance, process changes, improvements and challenges [MIS].

Keys to Success

Technical: Must possess strong conceptual and analytical skills. Working knowledge of TPS/6-Sigma procedures, such as KAIZEN, Line Balancing, Error-Proofing, SMED, SPC and Standard work. Good at Problem solving or skills like Six Sigma belts.

Should be well versed in Auto CADD or related software.

Motors (Torque & Speed control), PID controls & basic instrumentation/electrical skills will be an added advantage.

Supervisory Responsibilities

  • Reports to technical / Mgf. Engg manager.
  • Shall be responsible for implementing Standard Work, Process Improvement & Poke –Yoke in line with GPS. Should have a desired level of IQ whereby, the candidate can be considered as Subject Matter Expert (SME) for Standard Work/Error Proofing etc. He/she should be capable to redesign the process to enable it error free.

Requirements and Preferred Skills

  • Graduate in Mechanical/Industrial Engineer or a related field with Min. 10 years relevant experience in the automotive / engineering or rubber industries.
  • Proven experience in process engineering, preferably in the specific industry of focus.
  • Certifications in Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, or other related business and production methodologies are highly desirable.
  • Strong analytical skills and proficiency in statistical analysis and process optimization tools
