What to Expect

To ensure accurate and compliant statutory financial reporting and tax filings for UK legal entities. The role requires deep understanding of UK GAAP, IFRS, and HMRC tax regulations, along with strong analytical and collaboration skills.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Statutory Reporting:

  • Prepare and file annual statutory financial statements for 20+ UK entities.
  • Ensure compliance with Companies House and UK corporate governance requirements.
  • Liaise with external auditors, prepare audit schedules, and address audit queries.
  • Support group reporting and reconciliations between management and statutory accounts.
  • Maintain and enhance internal controls over statutory reporting.

 

 Tax Compliance and Reporting:

  • Prepare or assist with corporation tax returns in compliance with HMRC requirements.
  • Support tax provisioning (current and deferred tax) as part of month-end and year-end close.
  • Liaise with external tax advisors and manage correspondence with HMRC.
  • Monitor changes in UK tax legislation and assess impacts.
  • Review UK VAT returns to ensure timely, accurate submission with correct VAT calculations and proper data consolidation by the shared service center, checking compliance, adjustments, and controls.
  • Review transfer pricing to ensure it is fully compliant with legal and regulatory requirements.
  • Assist with monthly balance sheet reconciliations related to tax and statutory accounts.
  • Provide technical accounting support to internal finance teams.
  • Participate in finance transformation or systems implementation projects.
  • Support transfer pricing documentation and compliance, if applicable.

Supervisory Responsibilities

  • None
  • Acts as a resource for other team members; may lead projects with limited risks and resource requirements
  • Plans, initiates, and completes work assignments with a minimum of direction.
  • Understands and applies legal requirements and administrative policies to departmental accounting functions. Interprets and analyzes complex fiscal data, drawing logical conclusions.
  • Detects possible weaknesses in the internal control of standard accounting procedures and recommends revisions.
  • Solves complex problems by taking a new perspective on existing solutions; exercises judgment based on the analysis of multiple sources of information
  • Performs complex professional accounting duties
  • Impacts a range of customer, operational, project or service activities within own team and other related teams; works within broad guidelines and policies
  • Verbally communicate accounting procedures and policies to staff and others;
  • Write memos and reports clearly and concisely;
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with others

Requirements and Preferred Skills

  • 5-7 years of experience with statutory accounts preparation and tax return filings.
  • Requires a relevant degree or equivalent practical experience with a strong understanding of core principles and concepts.
  • CIMA, ACCA, ACA (or equivalent professional qualification).
  • Tax qualifications (e.g., ATT or CTA) are a plus but not essential.
  • Strong understanding of UK GAAP, IFRS, and UK tax regulations.
  • Experience using finance systems like SAP, ERP Systems Valara.
  • High attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Strong Excel skills (pivot tables, VLOOKUP, formulas).
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Effective communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to manage deadlines and multiple deliverables.

 

TRAVEL: 

  • Occasional Business travel to other UK or EMEA Gates locations
