Essential Duties and Responsibilities

As an innovation leader, we are looking for an ambitious, forward-thinking, open-minded, and well-rounded individual to join our local Engineering team. Working full-time Monday - Friday in our Dumfries facility, you will be a competent, suitable qualified and experienced individual who can work as part of a team as well as making individual decisions to support ongoing operational demands within the facility.

Key responsibilities:

The work includes carrying out activities listed below with Health, Safety and Environmental considerations:

 

  • Carrying out all work to Company and Legislative Safety, Compliance and Environmental procedures.
  • Be an effective communicator with all team members.
  • Responsible for the electrical maintenance (reactive, planned and improvement) of our plant equipment and process machinery including PLC’s and Electrical Drive Systems.
  • Assisting in training of apprentices, including acting as mentor and defining best practices.
  • Installation work (3 phase, single phase and containment) also includes network cabling.
  • Supporting facility Project/ Task derived work as defined in support of site continual investment.
  • Portable appliance testing.

 

Keys to Success

  • Entry-level position with appropriate licenses/training certifications
  • Has basic skills in an analytical or technical process

Supervisory Responsibilities

  • Applies basic analytical and technical skills to perform routine activities
  • Understands how the assigned tasks relate to others in the team and how the team integrates with others
  • Uses standard operating procedures to guide own work and solve routine problems

  • Uses communication skills and common courtesy to exchange information

Requirements and Preferred Skills

Essential Experience:

  • Educated to City & Guild or SVQ Level 3 (Electrical) and be a time-served electrician.
  • Have held a similar role within an Industrial Environment post qualification.
  • Have a working basic understanding of ventilation, pneumatic, hydraulic and steam service systems.

 

Desirable Experience:

  • Detailed understanding of Siemens PLC logic, programming, fault diagnosis and repair.
  • Previous work with Industrial Robotics.
  • Detailed knowledge of plant equipment safety and interlocking functions.
  • Demonstrable ability to follow written processes and procedures.
  • 18th Edition Wiring Regulations.

 

Required Skills:

  • Demonstrable Reactive and Proactive attitude to equipment repair and lifecycle management.
  • Determination, drive and willingness to learn.
  • Knowledge of Electrical Control and Electrical Drive systems.
  • Logical approach to fault finding and problem solving, with a focus on issue prevention.
  • Be able to understand and update Electrical Schematics and control documentation.
  • A working knowledge of PLC’s is desirable, preferably Siemens or Beckhoff, training can also be provided.
  • Be conversant with Microsoft packages including Word, Excel and Teams.
