WHAT TO EXPECT

This position offers the flexibility to begin your role as a Product Application Engineer in one of our offices located in Rochester Hills, MI; Englewood, CO; Atlanta, GA; or Pittsburgh, PA.

 

As an Application Engineer you will be supporting either the Fluid Power or Power Transmission division, where you will play a key role in assisting with customer inquiries. This position offers an excellent entry point to build your career, providing exposure to diverse applications and customers while developing a strong technical and product foundation. With hands-on experience and growth opportunities, this role is ideal for individuals looking to establish a solid career path within the company.

Key responsibilities (to name a few):

  • Provide engineering support to customers and clients by assisting with the proper application and selection of fluid power and/or power transmission products through email and phone communications.
  • Analyze application requirements, evaluate options, and recommend appropriate components to ensure systems meet performance and reliability standards.
  • Contribute to projects and longer-term departmental initiatives with minimal guidance from senior engineers.

ABOUT YOU

  • Bachelor’s degree required; Mechanical Engineering preferred.
    • Recent graduates are encouraged to apply for this entry-level opportunity.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Exceptional interpersonal, organizational, and time management skills, with proven ability to prioritize resources and meet project deadlines.
  • Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting abilities, supported by a technical mindset and analytical approach.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Excel).
  • Willingness to travel for extended training opportunities, customer engagements, or site visits as needed.
  • Willingness to relocate in the future to support long-term career growth within Gates.
  • Must be authorized to work in the United States without the need for visa sponsorship.

  • Salary Range Starting: $62,500 – $79,000
