What to expect

Gates is seeking an experienced Senior HR Manager to oversee the employee life cycle for our operations in Turkey. As the Senior HR Manager, you will be responsible for developing and implementing HR strategies and programs that align with the company's objectives and ensure a positive employee experience. This is a leadership role that will be based in our Gaziemir Plant (Free Trade Zone). The selected candidate will be managing a team of approximately 10 HR professionals and overseeing a total headcount of ~900 employees in 3 Manufacturing Plants, 1 Distribution Center and 1 Sales Office. This position reports to the VP of HR, EMEA.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

In alignment with the overall Gates HR strategy for the region, the selected candidate will be responsible for the following key areas for Turkey:

 

HR Strategy and Planning:

  • Establish and execute HR strategies, policies, and programs to support the company's overall business objectives.
  • Collaborate with senior management to align HR initiatives with organizational goals.
  • Monitor industry trends, legislation, and best practices to ensure compliance and introduce innovative HR practices.

 

Employee Life Cycle Management:

  • Manage the full employee life cycle, including recruitment, onboarding, performance management, employee development, and offboarding.
  • Ensure consistent implementation of HR policies, procedures, and programs across all countries.
  • Provide guidance and support to managers on HR-related matters, including employee relations, conflict resolution, and disciplinary actions.

 

Talent Acquisition and Retention:

  • Oversee recruitment processes, working closely with hiring managers and the talent acquisition team to identify staffing needs and select suitable candidates.
  • Effectively manage onboarding programs to facilitate new hires' integration into the organization.
  • Develop, propose and execute country-specific retention strategies to enhance employee engagement and reduce turnover.

 

Performance Management and Development:

  • Run performance management processes and tools to drive employee development and enhance performance.
  • Support managers in conducting performance evaluations and providing constructive feedback.
  • Identify training and development needs, and coordinate learning initiatives to improve employee skills and competencies.

 

Employee Relations and Compliance:

  • Address employee relations issues, conduct investigations when necessary, and recommend appropriate resolutions.
  • Ensure compliance with local labor laws, regulations, and company policies across all countries.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of employment laws and industry regulations, and update HR policies and practices accordingly.

 

Compensation and Benefits:

  • Conduct regular compensation and benefits benchmarking to ensure competitive positioning and provide recommendations for adjustments as needed.
  • Oversee the administration of payroll, ensuring accuracy and compliance.
  • Supervise the administration of employee benefits programs, such as health insurance, retirement plans, and wellness initiatives.
  • Provide guidance and support to managers and employees on compensation-related matters, including salary reviews, incentives, and recognition programs.

Supervisory Responsibilities

  • 3 direct reports, total team of 10 HR professionals
  • Manages multiple related teams, typically through manager and/or team lead
  • Manages large team of professionals and or managers
  • Sets organizational priorities and allocates resources; executes department business plans
  • Has team leadership, performance management and people development responsibility to build strong teams

Requirements and Preferred Skills

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant area (Master's degree preferred).
  • 11-15 years of experience as Senior HR Manager, preferably in an international manufacturing environment.
  • Strong knowledge of HR best practices, employment laws, and regulations in Turkey.
  • Demonstrated experience in managing the employee life cycle, including recruitment, performance management, and employee development.
  • Proven experience in leading large HR projects (implementation of tools, processes or practices).
  • Excellent leadership and people management skills, with the ability to effectively lead and develop a team.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build relationships and collaborate with stakeholders at all levels.
  • Analytical mindset, with the ability to use HR metrics and data to drive insights and decision-making.
  • Proactive and results-oriented, with the ability to work independently and handle multiple priorities.
  • Fluent in both Turkish and English
