Essential Duties and Responsibilities
THE ROLE:
We are seeking an experienced and driven Sales Manager to lead the Automotive Power Transmission (PT) business in Indonesia, covering both First Fit (OEM) and Replacement (Aftermarket) markets. This role will be responsible for growing sales, managing key OEM accounts, strengthening distribution networks, and ensuring Gates remains the preferred partner for high-performance automotive belt solutions. The ideal candidate combines strong commercial acumen, deep application know how, and the credibility to influence stakeholders with a winning attitude.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
OEM (First Fit) Business Development
- Manage relationships with automotive manufacturers (passenger, commercial, 2-wheeler) in Indonesia.
- Drive spec-in opportunities & ensure Gates’ products are designed into new vehicle platforms.
- Negotiate long-term supply agreements, pricing structures, & lifecycle management with OEMs.
- Collaborate with PLM & regional engineering teams to align on technical requirements & product roadmaps.
Aftermarket (Replacement) Growth
- Lead sales through distributors, wholesalers, & workshops to maximize coverage across Indonesia.
- Execute channel programs, sell-in/sell-out campaigns, & promotional activities to drive demand.
- Monitor & support distributor performance through joint business plans, training, & marketing initiatives.
- Develop retail activation programs targeting workshops and end-users.
Market Intelligence & Strategy
- Track competitor pricing, coverage, & product positioning in both OEM & aftermarket.
- Identify new opportunities in emerging segments (e.g., EV/Hybrid platforms, premium aftermarket).
- Provide structured feedback to regional/global teams for product localization & market-fit solutions.
Customer & Partner Engagement
- Build trusted, long-term partnerships with OEM decision-makers, distributors, & key workshops.
- Support Application Engineers in technical discussions with OEMs and distributor training.
- Represent Gates at industry events & exhibitions to strengthen brand visibility.
Performance Management
- Deliver annual sales targets (revenue, volume, margin) across both OEM & aftermarket.
- Ensure balanced growth between First Fit & Replacement channels.
- Provide accurate sales forecasts & monthly business performance reviews.

Requirements and Preferred Skills

Education – Bachelor’s or Diploma in Mechanical or Industrial Engineering; or equivalent engineering background.

Proven Sales Record – Track record of independently driving sales growth.

Industry Tenure – Minimum 5 years in automotive or hydraulic hose aftermarket sales within Indonesia.

Network – Established relationships with OEMs, distributors, & key aftermarket players.

Sector Exposure – Hands-on experience in automotive, heavy equipment, mining, oil & gas, & industrial plants.
