Essential Duties and Responsibilities

POSITION SUMMARY:

We are seeking an experienced and driven Sales Engineer to lead the Industrial business in Malaysia, via the offering of both fluid power and industrial power transmission products. This role will be responsible for growing sales, managing key accounts, strengthening distribution networks, and ensuring Gates remains the preferred partner for high-performance hydraulic hose and industrial power transmission belt solutions. The ideal candidate combines strong commercial acumen, deep application know‑how, and the credibility to influence stakeholders with a winning attitude.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Commercial Strategy & Financial Performance

•             Execute profitable growth strategies and tactical action plans to achieve sales targets, gross margin goals, and market share expansion.

•             Manage the sales and opportunity pipeline; analyze market trends and pivot sales plans to address gaps in identified market opportunities.

•             Lead key customer relationships and complex project negotiations, ensuring terms and conditions align with organizational objectives.

2. Channel & Customer Management

•             Recruit new channel distributors and evaluate existing partner performance. Drive "outside-in" strategies to place customers at the center of all distributor engagement activities

•             Drive the acquisition of new strategic accounts, focusing on products with higher value-add for the end-user.

•             Resolve sales conflicts, product use issues, and customer complaints, resolving them in coordination with multi-functional leaders.

3. Cross Functional Alignment & Process Excellence

•             Partner closely with the Application Team and regional functional teams (Innovation, Operations, Finance, Supply Chain) to ensure a seamless technical-commercial hand-off.

•             Provide high-quality market intelligence reports for the region Sales Manager, including competitor movements and application trends in ASEAN industrial sectors.

•             Adhere full compliance with corporate policies, HSE regulations, and the HR code of ethics and conduct

  • Data‑Driven Execution Discipline

o            Maintains rigorous CRM hygiene—clean data, robust pipelines, and accurate forecasts—ensuring predictable performance and continuous improvement.

Requirements and Preferred Skills

QUALIFICATIONS:

•             Education – Bachelor’s or Diploma in Mechanical or Industrial Engineering; or equivalent engineering

•             Proven track record of independent driving sales growth

•             Industry Tenure – Minimum 5 years in general industry market sales, preferably with prior hydraulic hose or industrial power transmission belts experience.

•             Network – Established relationships within the industry

•             Sector Exposure – Hands‑on experience in heavy equipment, mining, oil & gas, and industrial plants.
