Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Reports directly to the highest authority on site (Director of Factory Operations) and has a dotted line reporting relationship to the Corporate HSE organization (EU HSE Manager).

Coordinates HSE-related activities with on-site health & safety personnel and the local HSE Committee.

Plans, coordinates, and conducts internal HSE audits.

Supports and participates in external HSE audits (e.g., by authorities or certification bodies).

Follows up on audit results and ensures proper documentation and implementation of corrective actions.

Develops a solid understanding of company processes, organizational structure, and customer requirements.

Identifies and resolves a variety of routine HSE-related issues by applying standard procedures.

Operates with a moderate level of supervision and receives guidance as needed.

Understands key business drivers and uses this knowledge to execute day-to-day responsibilities effectively.

Solves common problems using experience, sound judgment, and established practices.

Ensures the quality and accuracy of their own work and contributes to the quality of work within the team.

Communicates clearly and effectively in straightforward situations, providing relevant information to colleagues and stakeholders.

- No supervisory responsibilities but may provide guidance to new associates
Requirements and Preferred Skills
-
Typically requires a college or university degree or equivalent work experience that provides exposure to fundamental theories, principles, and concepts.

2–4 years of relevant professional experience in Health, Safety & Environmental management or a comparable field.

Certified occupational safety specialist according to German legislation (“Sicherheitsfachkraft” or “Sicherheitsingenieur”), certified by a “Berufsgenossenschaft”; certification by BGHM is preferred.

Fluent in English, both written and spoken.

Demonstrates openness to change and adaptability in a dynamic environment.

Capable of working independently, while maintaining alignment with team and organizational goals.

Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively across different levels of the organization.

Willingness to travel occasionally to other Gates plants across Europe.
