Short Description
You will manage and maintain multiple Oracle databases and SQL Server databases, as well as various integrated third-party systems. This position serves as a DBA representative, providing essential support to cross-functional teams and ensuring smooth operation of database environments.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Execute database administration tasks in a safe, recoverable, and efficient manner to ensure optimal performance across all database environments.
- Provide comprehensive support for development and production environments on Oracle (11g, 12c, 18c, 19c) and SQL Server databases (2000, 2005, 2008, 2012, 2014, 2016, 2019), including SSIS, SSAS, and SSRS.
- Conduct capacity monitoring and planning, working closely with infrastructure teams, system administrators, and architects to address both short- and long-term needs.
- Architect and implement permanent solutions for critical issues, including RMAN, Data Guard, and database refresh/cloning processes.
- Proficient in scripting, including Shell scripting, PowerShell, and SQL performance analysis using OEM 13c, to automate tasks and enhance database management.
- Manage database upgrades, SQL version migrations, patching, and cloning to ensure smooth transitions and minimal downtime.
- Perform optimization, administration, and maintenance, such as table and index partitioning, indexing, normalization, synchronization, and job monitoring.
- Establish and uphold database change management standards, including the movement of changes from development to QA and production environments.
- Develop, implement, and test database backup and disaster recovery strategies to ensure robust data protection.
- Design and enforce comprehensive database security protocols to maintain integrity and consistency across environments.
- Create and maintain detailed documentation of the production environment to support ongoing operations and compliance.
- Demonstrate the ability to lead projects independently with minimal supervision, ensuring timely and effective outcomes
Requirements and Preferred Skills
- 5 to 7 years of experience supporting production environments with Oracle databases (11g, 12c, 18c, 19c) and SQL Server (2000, 2005, 2008, 2012, 2014, 2016, 2019).
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
- At least 2 years working with Oracle Multi-tenant architecture.
- Hands-on experience with Unix, Linux, and Windows operating systems.
- Completion of at least one major end-to-end database upgrade.
- Oracle/SQL certifications are a plus.
- Experience in .NET development is beneficial.
- Strong in Oracle/MS SQL database technologies.
- Expertise in SQL Server internals and a comprehensive understanding of the software development lifecycle.
- Proven experience with performance tuning, capacity planning, disaster recovery, and testing.
- Knowledge of array-level storage snapshots and issue resolution.
- Demonstrated ability to tackle complex issues across different areas.
- Ability to support security and SOX audit reporting with insights and recommendations.
- Skilled in maintaining and deploying code and patches across multiple environments.
- Experience working effectively within global IT and business teams.
- Strong diagnostic skills and sound judgment.
