Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Financial Reporting & Compliance

    • Prepare and manage monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with US GAAP and J‑GAAP.
    • Ensure timely and accurate consolidation reporting for both US and Japan headquarters.
    • Oversee and strengthen internal controls and ensure compliance with statutory requirements.
    • Coordinate annual audits with external auditors.

    Budgeting & Forecasting

    • Analyze variances and provide actionable insights to management.
    • Develop financial models to support planning and decision‑making.

    Treasury & Cash Management

    • Oversee cash flow forecasting and liquidity management.
    • Manage banking activities and optimize cash operations.

    Tax Management

    • Oversee corporate tax, consumption tax, and other local statutory tax filings.
    • Coordinate with external tax advisors to ensure timely and accurate tax returns and compliance.
    • Support transfer pricing documentation, intercompany transactions, and compliance with international tax regulations.
    • Monitor tax-related changes and provide recommendations to mitigate tax risks.
    Manage tax provisions and reconciliations as part of monthly and annual closing processes.

Supervisory Responsibilities

  • Manage and support a small team (multiple direct reports) 
  • Act as a resource for other team members; may lead projects with limited risks and resource requirements 
  • Act as a resource for colleagues with less experience 

Requirements and Preferred Skills

  • Required

    • Strong accounting experience in manufacturing (minimum 5 years).
    • Solid foundation in financial accounting, including month-end closing and statutory reporting.
    • Basic to intermediate tax knowledge (corporate tax, consumption tax, withholding tax, transfer pricing).
    • 5+ years of combined experience in finance, accounting, or audit.
    • Proficiency in ERP systems (SAP, Oracle, etc.).
    • Advanced Excel and analytical skills.
    • Team leadership or supervisory experience.

    Preferred

    • Experience leading and developing small teams.
    • Experience in cost improvement initiatives or manufacturing transformation projects.
    • Strong leadership and stakeholder management capabilities.
    • Ability to operate effectively in a cross‑cultural environment.
