Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Develop, implement, and maintain quality control systems and procedures. Work with project management, purchasing, lab, product design, and manufacturing personnel through the various stages of advanced quality planning (Gates 4-Phase/5 Check Point). Ensure proactive risk mitigation during product and process design and development, robust PPAP and validation support and a timely resolution of quality issues. Provides input to PDTs/customer/supplier on selection or assignment of SCs/KPCs. Work with supplier representatives re: design/gauging/blueprint issues. Provide the supply base with general and specific requirements for sample submissions and reviews and approve supplier control plans and sample submissions. Represent Gates Windsor Operations in dealing with customer and supplier quality and engineering personnel regarding quality issues. Responsible for determining and acquiring internal gauging for their programs, as well as, reviews and approves gauging concepts for suppliers of new components for Gates. Review and coordinate the supplier feasibility meetings with the Product Development Teams. Prepare the PPAP files/records and submit to customers. Develop and maintain Control Plans for all components and assemblies they are responsible for over the life of the part/program. Work with process engineering to build, measure and submit prototype parts and documentation to customers as required. Develop, implement, and maintain quality control systems and procedures. Skills & Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in mechatronics or electrical engineering with solid training and knowledge and quality management systems; ISO/IATF 16949 Lead or Internal Auditor Certification or solid experience auditing under these standards.
- Robust knowledge of the quality assurance tools (PPAP, APQP, FMEA, DOE, SPC, etc.) with relation to mechatronics and electronics components.
- Knowledge of IPC (Institute for Printed Circuits ) standards an asset.
- 15 years of experience in quality engineering, or manufacturing engineering, preferably in automotive or industrial sectors.
- Robust understanding of mechatronics systems, including motors, embedded controls, sensors, actuators, PCBs, (ie. required fabrication steps, etching, plating, and drilling etc.), and electromechanical integrations. Knowledge and depth of various electronic and mechanical component manufacturing processes.
- Must possess advanced statistical skills; design for experiments, process flow charts, failure mode and effect analysis, control plans, gauge repeatability and reproducibility studies.
- Must possess sound knowledge of GDT drawings, dimensioning, and gauging/measuring practices are required.
- Understanding manufacturing capabilities and the limitations of these various processes, as they apply to Gates products.
