What to expect

You will be part of our excellent General Ledger team, responsible for managing finance processes across Gates entities in the EMEA region. This role offers the opportunity to work on key financial operations, collaborate with a dynamic team, and contribute to the efficiency and accuracy of our finance processes. 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Lead an accounting team 7-8 people, handling General Ledger in compliance with Polish regulations.
  • Coordinate month-end, quarter-end and year-end closings to meet group reporting deadlines.
  • Work with external auditors during the annual financial audit to ensure compliance with Polish GAAP and Heilind’s accounting policy.
  • Review journal entries, reconciliations and accounting schedules prepared by the team.
  • Actively participate in operational work, taking ownership of advanced and complex accounting matters (accruals, prepayments, inventory valuation, write-offs, revaluations).
  • Take part in ongoing projects related to system changes and process improvements, cooperating with other Teams
  • Identify process improvement opportunities and implement best practices to enhance efficiency

  • 7+ direct reports

  • Has performance management and people development responsibility for associates under their care

Requirements and Preferred Skills

  • 5-7 years of experience in accounting, including at least 2 years in a leadership role.
  • University degree in Accounting, Finance or a related field.
  • Strong understanding of Accounting GAAP; familiarity with US GAAP is a plus.
  • Solid understanding of GL reporting, knowledge of AP, AR, inventory and VAT reporting is a plus.
  • Practical, hands-on approach with the ability to lead by example and manage people as well as actively participate in daily work.
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Experience with ERP systems, preferably SAP.
  • Good command of English, both written and spoken.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills to foster a collaborative work environment
