What To Expect

The role's basic purpuse and function is to develop, implement, and monitor pricing strategies for Gates Automotive Replacement and Automotive First Fit markets. Manage and lead the Automotive Pricing Team.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

 

  • Develop Automotive pricing strategy across all product lines to position the products based on value, market, and competitive situation. Continue transitioning the organization from cost plus pricing model to market and value pricing model.
  • Develop Methodology for calculating List Price, Price Floor, Price ceiling for all product lines within Automotive Replacement market in relation to the value and market positioning. Maintain corporate price list and periodically update appropriately.
  • Design the new products price setting strategy together with product management, reflecting accurate market and value positioning for Gates products in EMEA.
  • Lead the Price increase process for the organization. Work with sales and product managers to implement the Price changes into the market.
  • Drive consistency of price and trade terms within EMEA customers in line with the AR pricing and channel strategy.
  • Conduct presentations and support customer negotiations with quote, pricing or margin analysis.
  • Perform financial evaluation to assess pricing action effectiveness, plus the ad-hoc analysis.
  • Monthly reporting for AR and AFF: revision of pricing results and participation in creating new price forecast.
  • Determine the ideal target price for products of the business to analyze competitor pricing matched with market expectations, by collecting and evaluating competitive data, developing awareness of the marketplace to shape decision making processes. Identify and communicate trends in pricing and proactively make recommendations for management decision making.
  • Translate and present complex data into actionable strategies to increase sales and profit.
  • Identify leakage buckets within price waterfall and find ways to increase profit. Perform analysis and modelling to highlight profit improvement opportunities on exiting business.
  • Together with the sales team and senior leadership, drive negotiations of Gates customers’ terms and conditions as it relates to pricing, rebates and promotions.
  • Manage the AR and AFF pricing process and price structure. Improve process to maximize efficiencies and ensure prompt responsiveness to market conditions and customer expectations.
  • Develop reports and KPIs to track & monitor the pricing projects and associated activities on all product lines and market segments.
  • Lead and energize the automotive pricing team, ensuring the development of everyone by providing feedback and coaching, highlighting key strengths as well as improvement opportunities. Hire, train and mentor Pricing Analysts.
  • Develop Pricing Capabilities through developing and leading pricing training sessions across the Gates organization, for all markets.

  • Provides subject matter guidance to associates, colleagues and/or customers

Requirements and Preferred Skills

  • 8-10 years of experience with minimum of 5 years of pricing/sales/marketing experience within the automotive industry 
  • Minimum of 2 years of supervisory/leadership experience
  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree - emphasis in business economics, business administration, marketing or finance.
  • Highly proficient in MS Office systems.
  • Experience with pricing, quoting and data analytics software in a manufacturing / distribution setting. SAP, CPQ, PowerBI, Alteryx or pricing software transformation experience preferred
  • Very strong business acumen and analytical skills.
  • Excellent communicator, problem solving attitude and proactive personality
  • Ability to work in a highly dynamic and competitive environment.
  • Positive and energetic team leader
  • Fluent in English. Any other European language is an asset.
